Water Purification Project in Bulgaria

Convoy of Hope Europe (COHEU) and Convoy of Hope International recently installed desperately needed water purification systems in Bulgaria. The trip completed plans to place two water purification systems in remote regions of the country. Most villages have a natural spring, which is often contaminated. In addition, many have dried up due to drought conditions in the country. These systems can be constructed with local supplies and can provide daily drinking water for several families. Convoy team members trained local leaders to facilitate construction of future purification systems. The cost for each system produced locally is only 20 US dollars. Your gift can help secure the purity of the drinking water.

Christmas gift program

In these two extremely poor communities, the Convoy team was greeted warmly and appreciatively and as they visited the sites they sensed the desperation in these communities. The current average monthly wage in Bulgaria is 318 US dollars. The Convoy team members met with leadership in Zlatograd to coordinate the Christmas gift program for villages and schools. The goal this year is to double the previous year’s distribution. Please donate now.

Last year the packet included a small toy, socks and school supplies. The director of the elementary school shared with team members how much the gifts had meant to the children. Normally they don't receive enough gifts for each child but last year COHEU provided gifts for everyone. The children were touched by the generosity of donors from the US. One child came to the director and asked her to thank Convoy. She said, "Teacher, I took my toy and just held it and held it and then took it to bed with me."
